A powerful tale of war, redemption, and a hero's journey.
In 1914, Joey, a beautiful bay-red foal with a distinctive cross on his nose, is sold to the army and thrust into the midst of the war on the Western Front. With his officer, he charges toward the enemy, witnessing the horror of the battles in France. But even in the desolation of the trenches, Joey's courage touches the soldiers around him and he is able to find warmth and hope. But his heart aches for Albert, the farmer's son he left behind. Will he ever see his true master again? ~Amazon

I didn't find this book as great as the other books we read. I found that unlike some books this book when I put it down I didn't want to pick it up. Although it was a very sad book, people dying left and right. All in all it was an ok book!!
ReplyDeleteCheck out the puppets that were made for the play War Horse.

I like how the author ends each chapter. There is usually a mystery waiting to be revealed for the next chapter.
ReplyDeleteIt is unique that the story is told from Joey's point of view. It's not often that you read a book told from a horses perspective. I like it!
ReplyDeleteI love how the story makes me think about hope and love.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was nice when Emily's grandfather let Albert keep Joey at the end of the story. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie!
ReplyDeleteI new it! I new Albert was going to join the war. Because it felt good to know that Albert and Joey were back together because Joey had such a hard time in the war.
ReplyDeleteI was very happy when Albert and Joey found each other. I really enjoyed the book.
