The Houdini Box by Brian Selznick

What is your one true wish? For Victor, it's to become a magician.

Victor is forever trying to escape from locked trunks, to walk through walls, and to perform any number of Houdini's astonishing magic tricks...without success. Then -- amazingly -- he meets his idol and begs Houdini to explain himself. A mysterious, locked box is the only answer, and Victor is left to wonder: Does the box contain the secrets of the most famous magic tricks ever performed? From the creator of the Caldecott Medal-winning bestseller The Invention of Hugo Cabret comes this magical storybook that combines captivating mystery with mesmerizing historical fiction.

  2. A little weird, but it was good. It isn't a book I would pick off of the library shelves but after all it was a good book. I didn't really want to read it in the first place, so I finished it on the ride home from the book club meeting, just so I could get it done with! I hope everyone else likes it!

  3. I agree with Madison I wouldn't pick Houdini for the library. But this book was really short and I don't think younger kids would like this book. The pictures were good and it was like fait when Harry's only ball that he hit landed on Houdini's monument it was dramatic and I never would've guessed the E.W standed for what it did. Houdini was a true magician!!!
